Can I receive the payment notice for my insurance premium via Peppol? As of 1 January 2026, all Belgian companies with an active VAT number will be required to use structured electronic invoices for their mutual transactions (both sending and receiving invoices). Sending a PDF invoice by email or via a platform will no longer be sufficient. However, this basic principle has several exceptions, including transactions related to insurance contracts. The legally required e‑invoicing therefore does not apply to insurance. This means that nothing changes regarding the payment notices for your insurance premium. Payments of insurance premiums by direct debit or bank transfer will continue as usual. That said, NN is further exploring the possibilities offered by invoicing software connected to the Peppol network, to automate the processing and follow‑up of our invoices - and those of our business clients - more efficiently.
